Whether it's helper syndrome or a challenge to you: when a customer is being attacked, you are there to support them in investigating the cyber-incident, forcing out the attackers, or securing and rebuilding:
- Routine = no such thing. You solve cases – no checklists.
- No two cases are the same.
- IT security standards have failed when customers ask you for help.
- A call comes in – deployment - you are on site - headless chicken mode all around - everyone is looking at you - coolness, experience and your IT expertise let you do the right things calmly now.
- The investigation of cyber-attacks and IT fraud cases constantly challenges your intuition, your powers of deduction and your tenacity as well as your penchant for IT forensics
At the same time, you enjoy supporting customers who are not currently under attack in the development and implementation of innovative cyber-security:
- You are constantly designing new, smart services that are more ingenious than others on the market
- The customer has been bored by many IT security consultants before – you will instead inspire them
- and the most challenging: your assignments will require in-depth technical knowledge, but your customers are mostly managers who don't want to know about technical details - but you provide them with an understandable basis for decision-making
That's a lot - but not quite everything:
- You want to go to conferences, help organize internal Eat & Fun events, write articles or give presentations – constantly learning new things and developing yourself is important to you
- You are also interested in the traditional security topics of the other departments, because cooperation is what makes us successful as a company
- Working hours: 9 2 5 - not because you have to, just because you like to
- We are unbossed in terms of technical management with 2 strategy meetings per year. In disciplinary terms you can expect a team of top people in a flat hierarchy. This means: hardly any politics but lots of tough technical debate with people who have deep expertise. Sometimes it takes time and nerves, but that is how we progress.
- And yes, above-average pay and top-of-the-line technical equipment are part of the overall package, from home office to individual office, everything is possible
Sometimes your suit will get dusty while you are getting tangled up among cables in a server room in some foreign country; sometimes a source code has to be rewritten briefly and sometimes it's "just" a consulting task. The important thing is that you solve the case in the end. If you ever get stuck – your colleagues are always by your side.
Does this kind of environment make you uncomfortable? Then don't apply! Do you think you're too old for this job? If you've read this far, you might not be as old as you think! You think you're too inexperienced? If cyber-security is your hobby anyway, you might be more experienced than you think. If you can do something that will help us and this job is the challenge you're looking for, then let's talk – even if you don't tick all the boxes yet.
